The Martin de Porres School was founded in 1972 and the first home for our programs was The Astoria Housing Projects in Queens. Because of the growth of the program a larger facility was needed and our school moved to Springfield Gardens in 1977. We have been at this site for over 25 years. Originally we occupied only the main building as the annex building was occupied by the NY City Board of Education.

However, in 1980, this facility was offered to us and we accepted the opportunity to further expand our services through use of this additional facility. In 1995 the two buildings were joined with the construction of our gymnasium. The Springfield Gardens site provides programs for nearly 200 students as well as providing a home for our Youth Hospitality and Enrichment Center (after school programs). We have recently signed an extension of our lease agreement with St. Mary Magdalene Parish through year 2010.
